Mister Potato Head

When you have kids, you accumulate a lot of crap -- games, toys, puppets, shells, feathers, etc. At some point, it all has to go away. Adele turned the concept into this joyful and goofy pop song. One of her favorites.

The recording is me multi-tracking all the parts over a drum loop for a demo. Turntable Graveyard attempted it once in rehearsal. It turned into a chaotic punk-ish thing that we never performed live. The intro was spliced on so that you can hear Adele cracking herself up over the song.

Lyrics

No more snakes and ladders

Running myself ragged

I put away the madness

But I’ve forgotten where

Songs about the dead

I write them in my head

Etched upon my skull

Cuz I can’t get a pen in there

No more risk and twister

No alibis

It’s time to kiss Mister

Mister Potato Head goodbye

I hate this hero quest

Battered imagination

Sharp things in my desk

Cold upon this dark temptation

The puppet’s in the trash

No more hands up his attitude (ass)

Trading guns for cash

And little boys for bad daddy moods

No more risk and twister

No alibis

It’s time to kiss Mister

Mister Potato Head goodbye

Free the shells

Free the stones

Free the feathers

Free the bones
